AIsrael has approved an export license for the sale of anti-drone jamming systems to Ukraine.

This is the first time since Russia’s war on Ukraine that Israel has approved an export license to sell anti-drone systems to Ukraine.

According to foreign media reports, until now, Israel was careful not to provide diplomatic support to Ukraine because it feared that it could damage its relations with Russia and harm Israeli interests in Syria.

Ever since Russia used Iranian-made drones, the Ukrainian government has been pressing for Israeli military cooperation.

The export license for the anti-drone system was approved by Defense Minister Yoaf Gallant and Foreign Minister Eli Cohen in mid-February.

Foreign Minister Cohen informed Ukrainian President Zelensky about this during his visit to Kiev on February 15.

Export licenses have been approved for two Israeli companies that manufacture anti-drone systems, Elbat and Rafale.

A Ukrainian official told foreign media that a delegation from our Ministry of Defense recently visited Israel to understand anti-drone systems.

Drones supplied by Israel to Ukraine are equipped with electronic warfare systems that jam other drones and cause them to crash after losing control.

These systems have a range of up to 25 miles and can be installed at critical power plants and other critical sites to prevent drone strikes.

Israeli officials say the approval of the export license does not reflect a change in our policy regarding the Russia-Ukraine war because anti-drone systems can only be used for defensive purposes, not firing them.
