Lahore / Islamabad: The Provincial Election Commissioner Punjab expressed concern over the current security arrangements and expressed fear of postponement of the elections.

According to Express News, Provincial Election Commissioner Punjab Saeed Gul expressed serious reservations about the inadequate security arrangements and also informed the Election Commission chief in this regard through a letter. In which it has been said that if the security situation remains like this, the election schedule in Lahore will have to be suspended.

According to the sources of the Election Commission, the required security has not been provided to the Provincial Election Commissioners and Returning Officers, on which the Provincial Election Commissioner has pointed out unpleasant incidents during the collection of nomination papers due to the low number of security personnel.

According to the sources, the Provincial Election Commissioner Punjab has informed the Election Commission about the security situation and has said that no satisfactory arrangements have been made by the Punjab government to deal with the unpleasant incidents and the required security has not been provided to the returning officers.

According to Punjab Election Commissioner sources, there is a rush at the time of submission of nomination papers in the offices of the Returning Officers, due to which the staff are facing difficulties.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission has written a letter to the Chief Secretary Punjab in which he has been given permission to appoint and transfer and has also given permission to give leave to the officers and employees of the Election Commission.

The transfer posting of grade 19 and subordinate officers working in Election Commission Punjab Secretariat has also been allowed, while the transfer posting of grade 17 and subordinate officers and employees has also been allowed.

The Election Commission has directed that the details of appointment and transfer orders should be sent to the Election Commission.

On the other hand, regarding the preparations for the election in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a meeting will be held in the Election Commission on Friday.
