Malaysian actress Michelle Yeoh has created a new history by winning the Oscar for the film ‘Everything Everywhere All At Once’.
Michelle Yeoh is the first woman from Asia to win an Oscar in the ‘Best Actress’ category.
“This is indeed a historic moment, and thanks to the Academy for recognizing and truly representing the different cultures of the world by giving me this award,” he said while receiving the award.
“I think that’s what we’ve been working really hard for for a long time and tonight we made history,” he said.
“This is not just for the Asian community but for all those identified as minorities,” he added.
Explaining her point, Michelle Yu said that ‘we all deserve to be heard and seen, we deserve to have equal opportunities so that we can sit at a table and talk’.
He said that ‘we minorities just want this one chance to prove that we are also capable’.
‘If you have the passion and dedication to do something, and believe in yourself and what you want to do, you have to stand up for it,’ he advised them. ‘.
