Karnataka: Former minister of Bharatiya Janata Party SK Eshwarappa uttered insulting words on hearing the call of adhan, which hurt the hearts of Muslims and caused a wave of anger among the Muslim population.

According to Indian media, senior BJP leader SK Eshwarappa was addressing a public gathering in Karnataka. Meanwhile, it was time for adhan, but instead of stopping his speech, the former minister uttered very inappropriate words.

The BJP leader added that we are religious, girls and women sing hymns and worship in temples but we don’t use loudspeakers. The decision of the Supreme Court is coming soon and if not today, then tomorrow this call to prayer will end.

The former BJP minister said that such a loud voice gives me a headache. Does not Allah hear the sound of the loudspeaker that is set so high?

Former Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister Eshwarappa is in the news for his controversial statements. Recently he called Tipu Sultan a “Muslim punk”. The BJP government is trying its best to end the call to prayer on loudspeakers.

It may be recalled that the Supreme Court of India in July 2005 had banned the use of loudspeakers from 10 pm to 6 am citing the health effects of noise pollution.

However, later in October 2005, the court said that loudspeakers can be allowed to be used for 15 days a year on festive occasions till midnight.

It may be noted that senior BJP leader Eshwarappa, who is known for his controversial statements, had to resign from the post of minister after the suicide of a contractor last year.
