Decision to end subsidy on flour in Punjab

LAHORE: It has been decided to end the subsidy on government wheat and flour in Punjab.

According to Express News, now targeted subsidy will be given instead of general subsidy in Punjab. It has been decided to include 11,000 shops licensed by the Food Department to distribute free flour in Ramadan.

It has also been decided to increase the price of a 10 kg government flour bag by Rs 510, after which the price of a ten kg government flour bag will increase from Rs 648 to Rs 1158.

After the increase in the price of government wheat and flour, private flour will also be expensive. A bag of 20 kg private flour will be sold at Rs 2400. On the other hand, the sale price of government wheat has been increased from 2300 to 3900 rupees per maund.

The caretaker cabinet has also approved an increase of Rs 1600 per maund in the price of government wheat to be sold to the mills.
