Karachi: Animals’ lives are at stake in Pakistan’s largest zoo, Karachi, after the death of two lions, an elephant also fell seriously ill.

After receiving continuous public complaints, the team of Express reached the zoo and was not allowed to enter for several hours. Queen Noor Jahan, the elephant who brings smiles to children’s faces, is seriously ill, the back of the elephant is completely bent due to which she is facing difficulty in walking.

The elephant Noor Jahan has been suffering from joint and bone disease for the past two months which has partially paralyzed his hindquarters. The age is 17 years, a few months ago there was an infection in the teeth of both the elephants for which a team from abroad came to treat it.

In this regard, Express tried several times to take the position of the director of the zoo, Khalid Hashmi, but he did not speak. Khalid Hashmi, while entering the zoo, told the representative express in a very arrogant tone that I do not believe the administrator Karachi, I am in direct contact with Nasir Shah.

Citizens visiting the zoo have expressed their disappointment over this situation. Hussain Ali, a child visiting the zoo, said that he came here with his family to see the animals, but more than half of the cages are empty and the animals that are there are suffering from diseases.

Sources say that large-scale irregularities are allegedly being done in the zoo, the zoo is being run on commercial basis, there is alleged corruption in the food coming for the animals. They also seem helpless, the committee is also suffering from delay to find out the reasons for the death of the lion in the last few days. Sources say that Khalid Hashmi is refusing to release the report.

Sources say that the condition of many animals in the zoo is critical, Karachi Zoo’s elephant Noor Jahan is awaiting treatment after being partially paralyzed, if treated in time, the life can be saved. When Khalid Hashmi was asked to give his stand, he categorically refused to speak to the Express team despite being present in his office.
