Lahore: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) challenged the implementation of Article 144 in the Election Commission in Lahore.
Babar Awan filed a petition in the Election Commission on the instructions of Chairman PTI Imran Khan, in which it was said that the implementation of Section 144 on the rally of Tehreek-e-Insaf is illegal, election campaign is the constitutional right of Tehreek-e-Insaf.
The petition requested that the Election Commission withdraw the implementation of Section 144.
It has been stated in the petition that the Punjab government is violating Para 15 of the Supreme Court judgment by implementing Section 144. The Punjab government is trying to stop the rally by justifying the PSL match.
According to the text, the route of Tehreek-e-Insaf rally and PSL match is different. Tehreek-e-Insaf’s rally will end at 5:30 pm while the PSL match will start at 7:00 pm. Earlier, no city had imposed Section 144 during PSL.
According to the petitioner, the Punjab government is illegally stopping the election campaign of Tehreek-e-Insaf.

Speaking to the media outside the Election Commission, Babar Awan said that the caretaker government imposed the ban on the pretext of PSL, which is an open insult to two courts. The Supreme Court has ordered the elections in 90 days, so the Election Commission should take steps to make the elections possible.
He said that caretaker government is showing extreme irresponsibility. Zul Shah died in the first rally, the same method was used in the death of Zul Shah and Arshad Sharif.
On the other hand, Rangers were called in by the Punjab caretaker government to stop the PTI rally in the city. Rangers were called in to deal with any untoward incident. Due to Section 144, Rangers will be posted at Zaman Park and important places.
The traffic police say that the road leading to Zaman Park from Mall Road has been closed, one side has been closed due to the traffic jam in front of Zaman Park.
To stop the rally, the caretaker government has started rounding up containers and so far more than 30 containers have been seized. The highways coming to Zaman Park will be closed with containers.
