Karachi (PNP): Dr. Ramesh Kumar Vankwani, Patron-in-Chief of the Pakistan Hindu Council, has termed the recent Pakistan-India border tensions as a serious challenge to peace in the region. In a video message addressed to people of Pakistan and India, prominent Hindu parliamentary leader proposed a bilateral peace agreement between the Prime Ministers of both neighboring countries.

“Today I am addressing the people of both Pakistan and India, who are deeply concerned about the looming threat of war in the region,” Pakistan Hindu Council chief said, emphasizing that “War is not the solution to any issue.” According to him, “War causes damage to both parties; some suffer less, and others more, but there is always loss. Imposing sanctions on each other harms the people of both countries.”
Referring to the recent terrorist attack in Indian-administered Kashmir, Dr. Vankwani expressed that the killing of any innocent person is the killing of humanity as a whole. “Every religion in the world strictly prohibits targeting innocent people,” he stated.
Dr. Vankwani expressed regret that the Indian government, without any investigation, is making baseless accusations against Pakistan, thus escalating the border tensions. He pointed out that threats of terminating the Indus Waters Treaty, closing the border, and restricting Pakistani citizens’ visas are the matter of serious concern.
“Pakistan’s response has proven that, as an independent and sovereign nation, we have no other choice but to reply in such a way,” Dr. Vankwani stated. “Every citizen of Pakistan is determined to defend every inch of the country, and they stand shoulder to shoulder with the brave Pakistani armed forces in the defense of the nation.”
Dr. Vankwani further expressed deep regret over the ongoing IndoPak border tensions. “The eyes of the world are now fixed on Pakistan and India, waiting for the unfortunate moment when the two nations, which were once one and lived together happily for centuries, will raise weapons against each other and escalate the war front.” He expressed with deep sorrow.
Regarding a potential war between Pakistan and India, Dr. Vankwani said that if India attacks Pakistan, it is certain that Pakistan’s allies will come forward to its support. Similarly, India will use its diplomacy to call upon other nations for help.
He posed the question to the people of both countries: “If a bomb or missile falls on any country, will it limit to the border? The devastation of war will not remain confined to the border. Any weapon used against each other will have disastrous effects on the entire region and global peace.”
Dr. Vankwani, while acknowledging the efforts of the Pakistan Armed Forces in combating terrorism, further stated that “Our security agencies are determined to completely overcome terrorism. If terrorists are facing defeat on Pakistan’s western border, they now want to engage Pakistan’s army on the eastern border. Both the people of Pakistan and India should understand this conspiracy.”
Dr. Vankwani further stated that if in times of severe border tensions in past, our leaders could sit at the negotiation table and sign agreements such as the Liaquat-Nehru Pact, Shimla Accord, and Indus Waters Treaty, why can’t the Prime Ministers of Pakistan Mian Shahbaz Sharif and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, engage in dialogue today? He emphasized that both countries should join hands to combat unwanted non-state actors active across borders. “Both leadership should sign a new agreement that strengthens past accords while securing the people of the region from terrorism.”
In his video message, Dr. Vankwani appealed to the peace-loving citizens of both countries to persuade their leadership to sit at the negotiation table. He also demanded that the leaders of both countries put an end to war threats, avoid confrontation, and resolve their differences through dialogue.
