Rohingya Muslim camp fire, 'everything burnt'

A terrible fire broke out in a camp full of Rohingya Muslims on the Bangladesh border.

Fire officials and the United Nations say thousands of people have been left homeless after a massive fire broke out in a refugee camp full of Rohingya Muslims in southern Bangladesh.

The fire broke out in Camp 11 in Cox’s Bazar in the border district, home to more than a million Rohingya refugees, most of whom fled Myanmar government and military atrocities in 2017.

Cox’s Bazar Additional Superintendent of Police Rafiqul Islam told Reuters news agency that we do not have an estimate of the damage at this time but there were no immediate reports of casualties in the incident.

Rafiqul Islam added that the fire has been brought under control and senior officials of the police and refugee relief departments are present at the scene.

According to Al Jazeera correspondent, the fire is still burning and it seems that the fire was caused by a cooking cylinder.
