Jakarta: A fire broke out suddenly in an oil depot in a residential area in Indonesia, killing 18 people and injuring many others.
According to the world news agency, this terrible incident happened in the oil depot of a well-known energy company in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, when oil brought from another refinery was being filled in a tank.
There was also a settlement near the oil depot in which 1300 people were living. The fire also engulfed the houses.
The terrible fire spread so fast that residents did not get a chance to leave their homes. Dozens of vehicles were also burnt to ashes.
18 people, including two children, died due to severe burns and suffocation in the fire, while 35 people were seriously injured.
13 of the injured were badly burnt. He is being treated in the intensive care ward. There is a chance in increase of casualties.
Indonesian Vice President Maruf Amin expressed regret over the incident and condoled with the families and ordered the oil depot to be moved from the residential area.
