Cox’s Bazar: More than 12,000 people have been displaced as a result of a terrible fire in a refugee camp of Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh.
According to foreign media, a sudden fire broke out in the Ganjanabad camp of Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh’s Cox’s Bazar district along the border with Myanmar on Sunday, causing widespread destruction.
As a result of the fire, more than 2000 campuses and their belongings were burnt to ashes and thousands of people were forced to come under the open sky. According to Bangladesh Fire Service official Imadul Haq, no casualties were reported in the incident and the cause of the fire has not been revealed.
According to a report released last month by the Ministry of Defense of Bangladesh, there have been 222 incidents of fires in Rohingya camps between January 2021 and December 2022. In March 2021, a camp fire in Basti killed at least 15 people and left around 50,000 homeless.
It should be noted that this refugee camp in Cox’s Bazar is called the world’s largest refugee camp where Rohingya Muslims from Myanmar live who fled to Bangladesh after the worst atrocities and military crackdown on Buddhists in their country. They were forced to take shelter.
