Lahore: Consultations on the selection of the Pakistan team for the three-match T20 series against Afghanistan this month in Sharjah have started.

According to the sources, after the excellent performance in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), power hitter Azam Khan, all-rounder Imad Wasim, fast bowler Ehsanullah and leg-spinner Osama Mir are certain to join, while some senior players are resting. A proposal to give opportunities to young players is under consideration.

In this regard, a regular meeting of the selection committee under the chairmanship of Chief Selector Haroon Rashid is expected soon. Initially, the option of announcing the names of 20 or 22 players is also being kept, from which a 16-member team will be selected, while the announcement of the team will be held in the tournament. The national team will leave for Sharjah on March 23 for the Pak-Afghan series, where the proposed schedule of playing matches on March 26, 27 and 29 has been submitted by the Afghanistan Cricket Board to the PCB.

Keeping logistical issues in mind, the final schedule will be released by the Afghanistan Cricket Board in consultation with the PCB by next week, while the host of the series is the Afghanistan Cricket Board, but the revenue from the series will be shared equally between the two boards.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board was supposed to play the series against Australia, but as a protest against the decision to ban women from studying, playing and working, Cricket Australia withdrew from the matches, on which the PCB agreed to play the series at the request of Afghanistan. Revealed.
