Karachi: Speaking in the second day program of the ongoing three-day Sindh Literature Festival at the Arts Council Karachi, the leading intellectuals of the country said that with the increase in universities in the country, ignorance is also increasing, our education system. It is like that intellectuals have stopped coming out of the universities, today the tradition of public knowledge has ended due to which the society is suffering from decline.
In the special session, President Arts Council Muhammad Ahmad Shah, well-known poet Iftikhar Arif, writer Noor Ul Huda Shah, Ghazi Salahuddin and Dr. Jafar Ahmed spoke while Nizamat duties were performed by Hasnain Jamal.
Iftikhar Arif said that in the past intellectuals guided the people due to which the society moved forward. It is not necessary for a man to be a good historian, he is also a public intellectual, every person has his own priorities, the more educational institutions are increasing in our country today, the more ignorance is increasing, intellectuals are not coming out of our universities.
Muhammad Ahmad Shah said that in the recent past, many people were intellectuals in their own right, where the youth used to learn from them, the same was the tradition of public wisdom that was growing from generation to generation. Those public intellectuals are gone or less today.
Dr. Jafar Ahmed said that public wisdom demands sacrifice, courage and bravery are needed to speak the truth and call the wrong wrong. It is difficult to get our point across because sometimes the ruling time does not like the process, we have to decide how to get our point across.
He said that knowledge is that which awakens awareness in the society by its spread, unfortunately, those people who can face resistance are not seen in our educational institutions and the people who graduate from educational institutions do not have enough knowledge to contribute to the society. Nurul Huda Shah said that after the establishment of Pakistan, our intellectuals did not encourage people to connect with the land, due to which even after 75 years we do not know which areas are in Balochistan.
Ghazi Salahuddin said that the intellectual is the one whose writing and speech bring change in people, in the past, the tradition of public knowledge was very strong in our society. Our real war is against hatred. Only intellectuals destroy hatred on the basis of knowledge.
On the second day of the festival, various sessions were held, including “Seven Politics on the Nation: Present and Future”, “Light Paths, Storytelling”, “The Unfinished Story of Life”, “History and Evolution of Globalization”, “Observations of Mushahid Hussain”. . Sessions on Pakistan: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow, “Thinking with the Bearded Man”, “Sindhi Novels: Quality and Quantity”, “Provinces and Nations” were included.
