Jonathan Maimon, 24, who worked at the Israeli consulate in New York, was charged with attempted murder.
Manhattan’s Criminal Court granted bail to the suspect for $25,000.
According to the British newspaper Daily Mail, Jonathan attacked the 42-year-old man outside a Manhattan nightclub.
The victim was taken to the hospital with brain hemorrhage and multiple injuries.
The suspect, Jonathan, attacked the middle-aged citizen on the head with a glass jug on February 26.
It is alleged that the accused also used the same jig to break the glass of the taxi in which he traveled.
It was not clear what motivated the attack and whether the two men had ever met at the nightclub before.
