UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres has condemned the tactics of rich countries against poor countries.

Addressing a conference of 46 least developed countries in Qatar, Antonio Guterres said that rich countries and energy companies are harassing poor countries with interest rates and fuel surcharges.

The Secretary General of the United Nations said that rich nations should give 500 billion dollars annually to promote their economies and improve health and education.

Antonio Guterres said investment companies are raising interest rates and energy companies are making record profits.

He said that countries that are in debt and have less resources are facing challenges of economic development.

The Secretary General of the United Nations said that the global financial system was designed by rich countries for their own benefit.

Antonio Guterres said that many countries lacking liquidity are excluded from capital markets due to interest rates.

He said that the poor states are stuck in the worst storm of poverty.

The UN secretary-general also said rich countries had failed to provide hundreds of billions of dollars to help poor states fight climate change.
