Karachi: The shopkeepers approached the Sindh High Court against the SBCA action letter regarding the demolition of 33 shops of Medina Market located on Tipu Sultan Road.
In the petition filed, the stand was taken that the shops have been established in Kathiawar Society Adamji Nagar Block A for 30 years. Regarding the regularization of shops, the concerned authorities have been consulted. On March 1, 2023, SBCA Director East wrote the letter. In the letter, the shops have been declared illegal. It is feared that their shops will be demolished.
Shopkeepers said that the Kathiawar Cooperative Society had constructed shops as per the rules 40 years ago. Shops were allotted to shopkeepers after construction. The vendors have been doing business for many years. SBCA should be restrained from any illegal activities.
Local Secretary, Director SBCA East, Sindh Cooperative Societies and Society Administration have been made parties in the petition. The petitioners include Hajra Bai, Muhammad Amin, Javed, Muhammad Ali, Shafiullah Khan, Umair Amin.
