Islamabad: Due to non-opening of LC, 3000 employees, including 400 engineers, became unemployed.
Due to the ongoing financial and dollar crisis in the country, the units used for the manufacturing of mobile phones at the local level have also started closing, which has revealed the unemployment of thousands of employees.
This disclosure was made in an open letter written by former Minister of State and Chairman Investment Board Muhammad Azfar Ahsan to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The letter states that the mobile phone factory established under Pakistan-China Economic Corridor, Transition Techno Electric is facing forced closure, the company used to make 3 lakh smart mobiles per month in Pakistan, due to non-opening of LC, 3000 employees including 400 Engineers involved, unemployed, 30 remaining smart mobile phone assembling factories like Transition Techno-Electronics are struggling.
The smartphone industry employs 4 lakh people, the local mobile phone assembler industry needs tens of millions of dollars of equipment and raw materials per month, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif can save millions of jobs by providing this foreign exchange.
The letter demanded Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif to resolve the issue immediately.
