The Election Commission wrote a letter to the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa regarding the date of the elections

Islamabad / Peshawar: The Election Commission has written a letter to the governor for the date of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assembly elections, in which the governor has been asked for the date of the election in light of the Supreme Court’s decision.

The Election Commission of Pakistan has written a letter to Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Haji Ghulam Ali referring to the decision of the Supreme Court of Pakistan that the Governor will give the date of election for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly elections.

In the letter, Governor Kolkha said that in the light of the court decision, the elections should be held within 90 days for which the date of the election should be given so that the Supreme Court can be informed about the date of the elections.

It should be noted that earlier on the recommendation of the Election Commission, the President approved the holding of the Punjab Assembly elections on April 30. This development has taken place after the decision of the Supreme Court in the suo moto notice case.

The Election Commission had sent a letter to the President in the light of the Supreme Court’s decision, in which the dates for holding the elections in the Punjab province were suggested from April 30 to May 7, 2023. According to the proposal of the Election Commission, the President approved Sunday as the polling day.
