London: A large, long-term study has found that a simple regimen, specifically vitamin D supplementation, can help ward off a dreaded disease like dementia.
Several previous studies have shown an unusual relationship between vitamin D and dementia. Abnormal vitamin D deficiency has also been observed in people with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. Even large populations around the world, including the United States, suffer from low or severe vitamin D deficiency.
In this context, scientists have studied a total of 12400 people whose average age was 71 years. On the first day of the study, all participants did not have any type of dementia, but in this group, 4637 people were consuming vitamin D supplements.
Over the next ten years, 2,696 people developed dementia, and 75 percent of them were not taking any vitamin D supplements. However, the other 25 percent were synthesizing vitamin D at some level.
One thing that is clear from this is that taking a vitamin D supplement or eating foods rich in vitamin D can reduce the risk of dementia. Thus, this preventive method is also an important and successful method of medicine or pre-vento medicine.
Another study found that people who regularly incorporate vitamin D into their bodies can reduce their risk of developing dementia by up to 40 percent.
