Sanaa: Al-Qaeda commander Hamad bin Hamoud al-Tamimi of Saudi origin was killed along with his bodyguard in an air operation conducted by the US military in Yemen.
According to the World News Agency, the American army destroyed a house in an airstrike in the northern province of Marib in the war-torn country of Yemen. The house was recently rented by a known al-Qaeda commander.
In the attack, the commander of al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, Hamad Bin Hamud al-Tamimi, along with his bodyguard, were killed on the spot. Hamad bin Hammoud was a Saudi citizen and one of the most wanted terrorists in the United States.
The American intelligence had declared Al-Qaeda’s Jazeerah al-Arab branch as the most dangerous wing of the organization, which is involved in several attacks on the American military.
The government of Yemen has confirmed the death of Hamad Bin Hamud al-Taimi in the US airstrike, but no comment has been made by the US and Saudi Arabia.
One person was also injured in the American attack, whose identification is in progress.
