Karachi: The Sindh Premier League (SPL) was launched to provide opportunities to cricket talent in remote villages of Sindh.
Sindh Premier League launch ceremony was held in Sindh Assembly Auditorium. In which Provincial Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Sharjeel Inam Memon, Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Special Assistant to Chief Minister Sindh Arbab Lutfullah, Coordinator of Chief Minister Sindh Shahzad Memon participated.
World famous Pakistani cricket stars Shahid Afridi as brand ambassador of SPL and Abdul Razzaq as mentor of SPL participated in the event.
Speaking nearby, Provincial Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said that today is a proud day for Sindh province that SPL is starting from Sindh province. He said that it is a big thing that SPL is going to start under the patronage of national hero Shahid Afridi.
He said that Sindh has given big names like Javed Miandad, Shahid Afridi, Zaheer Abbas in cricket, talent from villages and tribes will emerge from Sindh Premier League. This is our project, Sindh government will take full ownership of it. Sharjeel Memon said that everyone in Pakistan People’s Party and Sindh took ownership of SPL. He said that SPL is starting from Karachi, next year we will try our best to hold its second season in Hyderabad.
Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah said that Arbab Lutfullah, Special Assistant to Sindh Chief Minister for Sports, is working hard, today is an important day that SPL is starting. He said that Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah have supported SPL, SPL will give an opportunity to the talent of the villages of Sindh to advance and the children of remote areas of Sindh. will get an opportunity to learn modern techniques of cricket.
He said that SPL should be started from the first season in Hyderabad, Sukkur and not keep it for years. SPL is important for our province.
Arbab Lutfullah, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Sindh for Sports, while addressing the event, said that the Sindh government is taking steps to provide entertainment and business to the people of the province. He said that the aim of SPL is to produce cricket players in different districts of Sindh, our priority is to build cricket infrastructure and establish institutions in remote areas of the province. We build institutions, not personalities, to achieve lasting results.
SPL brand ambassador Shahid Afridi said that he is very happy with the launch of SPL. ‘I tried hard to work for the development of cricket in Sindh, but was disappointed. Now SPL is a big step taken, it will promote the game of cricket and bring out talent’.
SPL Mentor Abdul Razzaq said that Sindh Premier League is a great opportunity, they will develop the player with good intentions and give full support to SPL.
On this occasion, SPL President Malik Arif said that there are few opportunities for cricket players in remote areas of Sindh. Unfortunately, only one Shahnawaz Dhani has come out of Sindh, there are dozens of such Shahnawaz Dhani.
He said that 10,000 job opportunities will be created from SPL in the next ten years. Sindh Premier League will start from Karachi. The scope of which will be implemented in the whole of Sindh. The second season of SPL will be held in Hyderabad next year.
6 franchises have been created for the Sindh Premier League. Which includes Karachi Ghazis, Hyderabad Bahadurs, Benazirabad Reds, Sukkur Patriots, Mirpokhas Tigers and Larkana Challengers. Chairman SPL Malik Aslam said that SPL will not only promote the youth of Sindh, but will also provide an opportunity to highlight the culture of Sindh. On this occasion, the kits of various franchises of SPL were unveiled.
