TikTok has decided to set a daily screen time limit of 60 minutes for users under the age of 18.
If youths exceed this new limit, they will have to provide a passcode to use the service that day. TikTok says it will roll out a new feature in the coming weeks to control screen time.
The Chinese-owned video app says it is introducing the feature to help teenagers control their screen time.
TikTok’s new limit comes after it had hinted last year that it would encourage teenagers to manage their screen time.
In this new feature, users under the age of 18 will be “issued a weekly notification regarding their screen time.
Users who use more screen time than the limit will be sent a new passcode and given the option to manage their screen time.
