A Spanish man has been sentenced to a year in prison for slapping his wife during a TikTok live stream.
According to the AFP news agency, the court sentenced him to one year in prison despite the refusal of Tik Toker’s wife to file a case.
A court in the Spanish city of Surya banned a TikToker from keeping a distance of 300 meters from a woman, talking to her and carrying a weapon around her for his involvement in the crime of violence against women.
According to the news agency, the incident took place during a live broadcast during ‘TikTok Battle’ when a woman faced three men and the winner was to be chosen by the audience.
In the photos and videos that have gone viral in Spain, the said man is seen slapping his wife on the face so hard that the woman’s head bows and she bursts into tears.
The Spanish court ruled that the man attacked his wife in public, in front of thousands of people, with the aim of undermining her physical integrity and humiliating her in public.
The court further said that in cases of sexual violence, there is no need for a complaint by the victim’s wife when it is clear that a person has committed the crime and should be punished.
