Islamabad: Justice Qazi Faiz Isa and Justice Yahya Afridi took notice of the matter related to the procedure of appointing cases for hearing in the Supreme Court.
The court immediately summoned the Registrar Supreme Court along with all the records.
Justice Qazi Faiz Isa remarked that I am a judge of the Supreme Court while I have also been the Chief Justice of Balochistan High Court for five years. .
Justice Qazi Faiz Isa remarked that a registrar seems to be more powerful than a judge like me, I cannot hear the cases of 2010 because the registrar assigns the cases for hearing, can I call the registrar and say this? Put such and such a case in such and such a bench.
The Registrar Supreme Court said that the cases are set for hearing only with the approval of the Chief Justice of Pakistan
Justice Yahya Afridi remarked that the question is that Justice Hasan Rizvi was in the bench, so why did the bench change, what is the procedure for fixing cases.
Former President of the Supreme Court Bar Amanullah Kanran said that people are tired of asking but our cases are not taken.
After the break, the hearing resumed when Registrar Supreme Court Ishrat Ali appeared in the court. Despite repeatedly asking judicial questions, the Registrar Supreme Court could not give a satisfactory answer.
Justice Qazi Faizaisa remarked that there is no such thing as transparency in the Registrar’s Office of the Supreme Court, the cases of 1999 are pending in the Supreme Court, we are hearing the appeals of 2022, there should be an explanation.
Justice Yahya Afridi remarked that there should be transparency in the Registrar’s Office, whatever work the Supreme Court Registrar’s Office does should be in writing.
Justice Qazi Faizaisa remarked that Registrar Supreme Court Ishrat Ali does not know anything. He asked the additional registrar whether you are working as a de facto registrar.
Justice Qazi Faizaisa remarked that tell us who we should call, should we call the section officer on this matter, tell us what is the procedure of the Supreme Court regarding the cases and why old cases are not being tried.
The court adjourned the hearing till 11:30 a.m. after seeking the relevant records from the Registrar Supreme Court.
