After the coronation of British King Charles III, his wife, Queen Consort Camilla, is expected to change her royal title.

King Charles married Camilla Parker in 2005, who was known as the Duchess of Cornwall until Queen Elizabeth II’s death in September last year when she decided not to use the title ‘Princess of Wales’, which King Charles had inherited. His first wife was Princess Diana.

According to British media reports, the royal title currently held by Camilla Parker was previously ‘Princess Consort’ but was changed to ‘Queen Consort’ at the behest of Queen Elizabeth II.

It should be noted that the British throne can only be inherited, so people who marry into the royal family are not eligible to inherit the throne.

In a letter dated February 2022, Queen Elizabeth II said, “I support Camilla today as she continues her faithful service.”

I would also like to thank you all for your support and I am forever grateful for the loyalty and love you continue to give me,” she wrote.

“I hope that when my son Charles becomes King you will support him and his wife Camilla as you have supported me and it is my sincere wish that when that time comes,” he wrote. So Camilla will be referred to as ‘Queen Consort’ as she will retain her loyalty and service to the royal family.

It should be noted that King Charles and Camilla’s coronation ceremony will be held on May 6.
