Accountability Court;  Usman Buzdar granted bail, ordered to conduct comprehensive investigation

Lahore: Accountability Court granted bail to former Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar and ordered him to be investigated.

The asset inquiry case was heard in the Accountability Court Lahore, where former Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar appeared on the expiry of interim bail. The court directed Usman Buzdar to make all the records part of the case and inquired whether his case goes up to Rs 50 crore.

The investigating officer told the court that this has not been determined yet. The court directed that in the next hearing tell how this investigation started, on which the NAB investigation officer replied to the court that a complaint of 10 billion was received against him. The court asked what assets were created and in whose name, to which the investigating officer replied that they created assets in the name of the father and the family.

Usman Buzdar told the court that my father has died. This is not even my entire clan’s assets of 10 billion.

The court called for a copy of the complaint against Usman Buzdar and inquired who is the complainant? Who is this true Pakistani? How did NAB initiate an inquiry in which the identity of the complainant is not known? The court ordered that a copy of the complaint be provided to the petitioner.

The NAB prosecutor took a position in the court that NAB cannot give a copy under the law. The court expressed indignation and remarked that how can this happen? The NAB prosecutor told the court that according to the law, they cannot give a copy of the complaint for 6 months. On this occasion, the court directed to read out the NAB law and remarked that it is not written in the law that a copy of the complaint has to be provided after 6 months.

The court said that you should be arrested as it is. When the petitioner does not know what he is accused of, how will he respond? The NAB investigation officer told the court that a copy of the complaint cannot be provided at the inquiry stage. If the court wants to give an order, it can give it. The court ordered to provide a copy of the NAB law regarding the copy of the complaint.

The court remarked that it first decides whether a copy of the complaint can be served or not.

Later, after a brief break, the court granted former Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar’s bail till March 7 and ordered him to be investigated.
