French President Emmanuel Macron has said he will visit China in April to seek the Chinese government’s help in ending Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Emmanuel Macron’s announcement came after China published a 12-point position paper calling for a ceasefire and a “political settlement” to end the year-long conflict.
Speaking on the sidelines of an agricultural show in Paris, Macron said he would visit China in early April.
The fact that China is joining peace efforts is a good thing, the French leader said, adding that peace is only possible if Russian aggression is stopped, troops are withdrawn, and Ukraine and its people Regional sovereignty should be respected.
He added that China should help us pressure Russia to never use chemical or nuclear weapons and to stop its aggression as a precondition for talks.
Beijing has tried to position itself as a neutral party to the conflict, even as it maintains close ties with Russia and blocked a joint statement condemning the war at the G20 summit in India. has helped
