The Islamabad High Court declared the occupation of CDA Flats by the Islamabad Police as illegal and ordered action against the police officials occupying the flats for 16 years.
According to Express News, a two-member bench of Islamabad High Court, comprising Justice Mohsin Akhtar and Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri, gave a verdict against the occupation of CDA flats. The High Court annulled the decision of the single bench and allowed the appeals of the CDA to vacate the flats.
The High Court declared illegal the occupation of CDA flats by the Islamabad police since the time of Lal Masjid operation, which is 16 years, while the court ordered the police to end the occupation of two hundred CDA flats in one month. Ordered.
The court said that if the flats are not vacated, the law will deal strictly with the IG and the Home Secretary. The occupation of the flats is open obstinacy on the part of the police.
It should be noted that CDA’s appeals against the occupation of flats were pending since 2011. Police temporarily took 200 flats for the Lal Masjid operation in 2007.
On the other hand, the spokesperson of Islamabad Capital Police has said that the police will comply with the court’s order. Islamabad Police has very few living facilities, especially for the officers from constable to inspector. The Interior will be requested to take steps to regularize the residences of the police officials in compliance with the court order.
