Islamabad: A reference was filed in the Judicial Council against Supreme Court Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi.

The reference to the Judicial Council was submitted by lawyer Mian Dawood as an individual, accusing the Supreme Court judge of misconduct and amassing illegitimate assets.

Earlier, all the bar councils led by Pakistan Bar Council had decided to file a reference against Justice Mazahir Naqvi on the issue of audio leaks.

The Chairman of the Executive Committee of Pakistan Bar Council Hasan Raza Pasha had told in the press conference in the past few days that we had issued a press release on the audio leaks incident, had demanded the Chief Justice to take action against the behind-the-scenes characters if the audio is fake, but If the audio leaks are true, action should be taken against the involved characters, but neither the Supreme Court gave any answer nor the Registrar’s Office gave any opinion.

Meanwhile, during the legal consultation in the meeting chaired by the Prime Minister, it was stated that direct action should be taken regarding Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan and Justice Mazahir Ali Akbar Naqvi. In the meeting, the legal team of the party said that Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan was the supervising judge in the case against Nawaz Sharif, the irrefutable evidence of the audio leak against Justice Mazahir Ali Akbar Naqvi has come out.

Later, Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah said in his statement that Justice Ijazul Ahsan and Justice Mazahir Ali Akbar Naqvi’s attitude towards (N) League is biased. The PML-N’s legal team will ask the two judges to recuse themselves from the benches hearing the cases of Nawaz Sharif and other party leaders.
