New Delhi: Three years have passed since the February 2020 riots in the Indian capital in which Hindu extremists 60 Muslims were martyred, even after the passage of three years, those wounds inflicted on the hearts of Indian Muslims are still fresh today.
In Delhi riots, extremist Hindus belonging to Rashtra Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and BJP killed more than 60 Muslims and destroyed property worth crores of rupees.
The riots erupted when Hindu extremists of the RSS and BJP attacked Muslims protesting against the Civil Amendment Act (CAA) in Salimpur, Jaffarabad, Mojpur Road, Karampur and Babarpur areas of Delhi. attacked and opened fire on peaceful sit-ins.
During the attack, Hindu extremists used swords, iron rods and set fire to Muslim houses and properties. International news channels such as the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) covered this brutality and exposed the Modi government. On 23 February 2020, ruling BJP leader Kapil Mishra asked the Delhi Police to clean the streets but After failure, he threatened to spread violence.
Another BJP leader and central government minister Anurag Thakur’s statement that “shoot Muslims” also showed BJP’s hatred against Muslims. After Anurag Thakur’s inflammatory statement, violence broke out and armed Hindi militants entered Muslim colonies/areas with sticks, stones and swords.
According to an ongoing report on the Delhi riots, the doctors refused to treat the injured Muslim out of fear of the BJP and harassed them by calling the Muslims terrorists. It will be remembered as a bitter reminder of oppression.
