The US Embassy building in Nine Elms, London was locked down this morning after reports of receiving a suspicious package.
The incident took place at 11:07 am which was later declared as a false report.
An alarm went off at 10:15 a.m. in the embassy building, instructing people to stay away from windows and into the assembly area.
Outside the embassy, police directed citizens to leave the area while police officers patrolled with the help of sniffer dogs.
The London Metropolitan Police has said that the lockdown has been lifted.
In a statement issued on Twitter, the US Embassy said that normal work has been resumed after resolving the issue of the suspicious package outside the embassy.
London authorities investigated and cleared the suspicious package outside the embassy, the statement said.
The Embassy thanked the London Police for their timely action and thanked the Embassy visitors for their cooperation.
