Karachi: Due to the protest of lawyers on Korangi Road, there was a severe traffic jam as a result of which thousands of citizens going to offices got stuck in the traffic and long queues of vehicles were formed.
A scuffle broke out between the lawyers and the law enforcement officials after which the lawyers blocked traffic on Korangi Road in Akhtar Colony area late at night.
Hundreds of trucks and containers coming and going from the industrial area and the port got stuck due to the protest. Lawyers called off the protest several hours later after successful negotiations with government agency officials, but traffic was so badly congested that it could only be restored by noon.
The number of traffic personnel to restore the flow of vehicles on the road was also negligible. There was heavy traffic on Baloch Colony Bridge, Korangi Road, Expressway and Causeway. Citizens going to offices and their work faced severe difficulties and the journey of minutes turned into hours.
