Islamabad: The High Court allowed the electronic media to report the court proceedings. The court has said that the electronic media can report the court proceedings as per the guidelines of the Supreme Court decision.
According to Express News, Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court Amir Farooq combined the requests of Islamabad High Court Journalists Association, Press Association of Supreme Court and PFUJ against PEMRA notification of ban on reporting of court proceedings in electronic media. Had a hearing.
High Court Bar President Ali Azad and Adil Aziz Qazi appeared in the court on behalf of the petitioners. Pemra’s counsel took the stand that the senior counsel was busy in the Supreme Court without adjourning the proceedings.
The court said that the electronic media can report according to the guidelines given in the Supreme Court decision. On which State Ali Azad Advocate said that now of course give as long a date as you want, the court while accepting the request for adjournment on behalf of Pemra. The hearing was adjourned.
