Karachi: FIA arrested two employees of the Japanese Consulate and two officers of a private bank involved in embezzlement and fraud of crores of rupees with the help of fake documents and recovered the money.
The consulate’s written complaint was processed by the FIA Commercial Bank Circle. The recovered amount includes 1 lakh 21 thousand US dollars, 6 lakh Pakistani rupees and 6 lakh share certificates.
Among the arrested consulate employees are Obaid and Roctor, bank officers named Fahad and Zeeshan of a private bank.
Two accounts were fraudulently opened in a private bank in the name of the wife of a diplomat of the consulate, through which fraud was committed, the consulate staff opened accounts in US dollars and Pakistani currency with the help of bankers.
Forged signature of woman for bank accounts, fake consular introduction letter submitted. The involved consulate employees deposited the money received from the consulate into the accounts.
Checks with forged signatures of the diplomat’s wife were submitted to withdraw the money. The employees not only falsified the electricity bill amount and customs clearance amount of the consulate but also tampered with the documents.
