Lahore: The Punjab government’s defamation law was challenged in the Lahore High Court.

The Chief Minister and Governor of Punjab have been made parties by the Principal Secretary in the anti-defamation petition filed in the Lahore High Court by Advocate Nadeem Sarwar. Besides, the Punjab government has also been made a party to the petition.

The petition contends that the defamation law is against the constitution and the law. A new law cannot be made in the presence of the Defamation Ordinance and the Defamation Act. Journalists were not consulted in the defamation law.
