Lahore: Punjab Acting Governor Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan signed the Defamation Bill passed by the provincial assembly and it became a formal law and will come into force after gazette notification.
After the approval of the Punjab Assembly, the Defamation Bill (Defamation) was waiting for the signature of the Governor of Punjab for several days because the Governor of Punjab Saleem Haider had expressed reservations regarding the signing of the Defamation Bill.
After Governor Punjab Salim Haider’s departure abroad, Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan signed the defamation bill as Acting Governor. gave
It should be noted that the defamation bill will come into force after the gazette notification, the signature of the governor on the bill passed by the Punjab Assembly is necessary because no bill passed by the Punjab Assembly can become a law without the signature of the governor.
