Lahore: The Punjab government has announced a historic package for farmers including Kisan Bank.

An important meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz and PML-N President Nawaz Sharif, in which a detailed briefing was given on the Kisan Package. In the meeting, “Punjab Kisan Bank, Green Tractor Scheme, Local level manufacturing of harvester and agricultural implements, Oilseed Promotion Program” was announced.

The Punjab Government took a principled decision to establish Punjab Kisan Bank for easy loans to the farmers, while the “CM Punjab Green Tractor Scheme” was also approved for the farmers. In the meeting, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz rejected the proposal of only 6 lakh rupees subsidy on tractors and issued instructions to give 70% subsidy on small tractors and 50% subsidy on big tractors. In the meeting, on the suggestion of Nawaz Sharif, the number of tractors under the Punjab Green Tractor Scheme was increased by 10 thousand.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz ordered to complete the first phase of Punjab Green Tractor Scheme in one year. It was decided in the meeting that every year more tractors will be given under the Punjab Green Tractor Scheme. A briefing was given in the meeting that owners of 6 acres to 50 acres of land will be eligible to apply for the tractor scheme.

Apart from this, Maryam Nawaz also approved the high-tech mechanization program developed at the local level, under which foreign companies will produce harvesters and other equipment in Punjab with local collaboration. In this regard, the proposal to give concessions to foreign companies for manufacturing modern agricultural equipment in Punjab was considered.

In the meeting, approval was given to start the oilseed promotion program in the province, under which production of oilseeds will be encouraged in different areas of the province.

On this occasion, Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz said that for the first time in the province, a farmer package of 400 billion rupees is being given. Apart from agricultural inputs, farmers will also get other incentives and facilities through Kisan Card. Prosperity of every farmer and increase in agricultural production are among our top goals.

Solarization of tubewell and drip irrigation system were also reviewed in the meeting. On this occasion, it was informed in the briefing that 47 thousand farmers have registered for Kisan Card in 48 hours. On this occasion, Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb, Provincial Ministers Sohaib Ahmed Malik, Syed Ashiq Hussain, Special Assistant Rashid Nasrullah, Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman, Secretary Agriculture Iftikhar Shah and other relevant officials were present.
