Islamabad: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has issued an order to hear the contempt of court case against Senator Faisal Vawda and MQM Pakistan leader Mustafa Kamal.
In the order issued by the Supreme Court, it was said that the lawyer of Mustafa Kamal informed the court that he has asked for unconditional forgiveness. While the order states that the lawyer of Faisal Vawda has sought time from the court to submit the additional reply.
According to the court order, Pemra submitted the transcript of the press conference of Faisal Vawda and Mustafa Kamal to the court. The conferences were broadcast live or later they were guilty of contempt of court.
The court order made it clear that in Badi-Nazar’s view, press conferences conducted on TV channels also fall under the category of contempt of court. It has been further said that all the news channels should submit their reply within two weeks as to why contempt of court proceedings should not be initiated against them.
The order further states that the Attorney General should indicate in the transcript where contempt of court has been committed, the case will be heard further on June 28.
