Peshawar: A centuries-old peepal tree standing in front of Indian actor Shahrukh Khan’s ancestral home in Peshawar was cut down, which was considered one of the oldest trees in the city, while the relevant institutions have remained silent.
Shah Wali Qatal, adjacent to the historic Qisa Khwani Bazaar of Peshawar, is one of the oldest areas of the city, where Indian actor Shah Rukh Khan’s ancestral home is also located. .
It was reported that this tree was 400 to 500 years old, an attempt had been made to cut this tree before, but only one branch was cut, and the local people protested, as a result of which the process of cutting the tree was stopped. But this time there was silence on cutting the tree.
The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Peshawar and the Mayor Peshawar have also expressed their ignorance in this regard and neither any shopkeeper stopped nor the citizens resisted the cutting of trees in the old area of Peshawar.
It should be noted that apart from Shah Rukh’s ancestral home, his uncle Ghulam Muhammad Gama’s shop also used to be in Shah Wali Qatal and Shah Rukh Khan’s father also lived in the same area.
