Islamabad: The High Court has declared that there is no restriction on the reporting of court proceedings.
A hearing was held on the request of Islamabad High Court Journalists Association against ban on reporting of court proceedings, in which Chief Justice Islamabad High Court Justice Aamir Farooq remarked that there is no ban on reporting of court proceedings. The media can report the court proceedings. The ban is not on reporting but on irresponsible reporting. Only sensational hitters are the problem.

The court inquired from the Additional Attorney General whether the federal government is related to the matter?, to which Additional Attorney General Manoor Iqbal Dogal said that it is a matter of PEMRA, the federal government is not related.
Barrister Umar Ejaz Gilani said in the court that the law relied on by Pemra does not prohibit reporting pending cases.
Later, the court adjourned the hearing of the case till June 11, calling for final arguments at the next hearing.
