The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to ensure strict implementation of the Child Marriage Act and the law to make blood test mandatory in marriage certificates to prevent child marriages and to give special packages to pregnant women in backward areas.

The fourth meeting of the Provincial Population Task Force was held in Peshawar under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Khan Gandapur.

In the meeting, the concerned authorities were directed to take steps to provide facilities for pre-marriage blood test at the local level, availability of family planning services and facilities in all health department centers was also decided.

In the meeting presided over by the Chief Minister, it was directed to take steps to strengthen the midwifery sector in order to reduce the mortality rate of women during pregnancy.

It was also decided to organize seminars for students of colleges and universities to spread awareness about family planning on a large scale.

The Chief Minister said that the increasing population is a challenge not only for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa but for the whole country, to deal with this challenge effectively, coordinated and timely measures have to be taken.
