Peshawar: Unknown persons shot the police officers on polio duty while going on duty.
According to the police, the incident took place near Sulaiman Khel in Matni area. According to the initial reports, Police Constable Shah Nawaz son of Akbar Hussain, Block No. 7080, Salman Khel, was going to duty on a motorcycle at 6:30 in the morning, and on the way, Salman Khel Nahar Ghara was shot at.
The police constable was on polio duty in the Sara Khaora camp of Matni police station. As soon as the incident was reported, the police officers reached the spot with a heavy contingent. A search operation has been started in the area by recovering empty Kalashnikov shells from the spot.
The police have started investigating the incident keeping in view various aspects.
Later, the funeral prayer of Shaheed Shah Nawaz was performed with official honors at Malik Saad Shaheed Police Line. SSP Operations Kashif Zulfikar, SSP Investigation Sajjad Ahmed Sahibzada, SSP Coordination Muhammad Waqas Khan and other police officers and relatives of the martyr were present in the funeral prayer.
On the other hand, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur condemned the incident and expressed his condolences to the family of the martyr and prayed for patience. He directed measures for the immediate arrest of the elements involved in the firing and also directed financial assistance to the heirs of the martyr.
