Karachi: One policeman was martyred and another was seriously injured when unknown armed assailants fired at Sohrab Goth Superhighway near Guna Mandi. The officers were on security duty at the cattle market.
According to the details, 2 unknown armed suspects on a motorcycle fired at the policemen assigned to protect the citizens going to the Northern Bypass Pursji Cattle Market in the area of Sohrab Goth police station on the service road near Gana Mandi and escaped.
As a result of the firing, 2 police officers were seriously injured who were immediately shifted to a nearby private hospital where one seriously injured police officer died during treatment. Made in the name of Salman Abbas son of Muhammad Sajjad.
The martyred and injured policemen were posted at the headquarters East Saudabad and were sent from the police headquarters to Sachal police station for the security duty of cattle market. was done.
The policemen had come down from the superhighway to drink water and came towards the service road, when at the same time, 2 unknown armed suspects on a 125 motorcycle opened fire on them, as a result of which one policeman was martyred and others were injured.
On receiving the information about the shooting incident, SSP East Dr. Farrukh Raza, SDPO Sohrab Goth Sohail Faiz and other police officers reached the spot. 2 bullet casings and other evidences were collected from the incident.
SSP East Dr. Farrukh Raza while talking to the media representatives said that the East Police has made a security corridor with respect to the cattle market on the Northern Bypass in which a total of 29 police pickets have been made and These policemen were posted on their pickets.
He said that the purpose of making pickets is to protect the lives and property of the citizens going to the cattle market, 2 policemen were on their duty, meanwhile unknown armed suspects came and they saw the policemen and fired at them as a result. Police Constable Muhammad Yasin Shaheed and Police Constable Salman Abbas were seriously injured.
He said that the incident is being investigated, the crime scene unit of the police is present at the spot and ground intelligence is also being collected.
SSP East said that various types of crimes used to take place near Sohrab Goth Guna Mandi, which police pickets were deployed to prevent. Criminals were operating systematically in this area. The professionals were hurt by the police pickets and in response they fired at the policemen.
SSP East said that operations will continue against the criminal elements, the morale of the police will not be low, our jawan has been martyred, whoever is involved in this incident will be brought to justice.
Later, the body of the policeman who was martyred by the firing of unknown armed suspects was brought from the private hospital to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for legal proceedings, while the injured policeman was shifted to the private hospital located on Stadium Road.
