In the case of the attack on the police check post in Peshawar on May 9, the Special Anti-Terrorism Court discharged 42 named accused from the case.
ATC Judge Syed Asghar Ali Shah heard the case. The court ordered the prosecution to collect the interim challan of provincial minister Adnan Qadri named in the case. The court remarked that it will issue a final decision regarding the 6 fugitive accused named in the case.
The prosecution argued that the accused are accused of attacking a police check post in the limits of Hayatabad police station on May 9. After the attack, 49 accused, including provincial minister Adnan Qadri, were nominated for trial. 42 accused named in the case are on bail while 6 accused are absconding.
The petitioner’s lawyer said that provincial minister Adnan Qadri’s bail has been confirmed, there is no evidence on record to prove that the accused are involved in this case. This case has been made on political grounds, Adnan Qadri is currently the provincial minister and he has also been nominated.
The court remarked that there is no concrete evidence against the accused. There is neither CCT footage nor CDR record on record. There is no evidence on your record to prove the involvement of the accused.
The court discharged 42 accused from the case due to lack of evidence, summons of provincial minister Adnan Qadri for the next hearing.
