The human body gets energy from three types of foods…carbohydrates, proteins and fats.
Carbohydrates are the most important of these foods because they make glucose, the crown jewel of the human body’s kingdom, the brain’s staple food. Glucose is a type of sugar.
The white sugar (Table or White Sugar) and sugar that we use are also types of sugar. In sugar, iron, magnesium, calcium, potassium are found due to sugar, these minerals are not found in white sugar. It is complete in terms of nutrition.
Basic need of human body
Different types of sugars such as fructose, maltose, lactose etc. are found in vegetables, fruits, grains and dairy products. Most varieties also contain glucose. That is why it is the most common form of all sugars. Since it is easily available, the divine nature made it the source of energy for the mind and human body as well. Glucose is actually a basic requirement of the human body to get the energy it needs to perform daily functions.
The problem arose in the 20th century when white sugar began to be used in various processed foods. Also, processed foods containing carbohydrates also began to be produced. Flours, processed cooking oils and chemical food preservatives increased in popularity. In this way, excess glucose started to be produced in the human body. Insulin, a hormone in our body, controls the amount of glucose. When the amount of glucose is exceeded, this hormone becomes ineffective. Then a person becomes a victim of a disease, type II diabetes.
Blood glucose levels
In type 2 diabetes, the amount of glucose in the blood (known as sugar in our country) is too high in the human body. This condition makes the patient vulnerable to other diseases.
For example, obesity, high blood pressure, inflammation, heart diseases, certain types of cancer, dental disorders, liver diseases, especially nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, vision impairment, etc. It is evident from this fact that a person should keep the level or amount of glucose in his blood normal so that he does not fall victim to diseases and lead a healthy and happy life.
Medical experts say that an adult person who does not have type 2 diabetes should eat nine teaspoons of white sugar per day. However, this is often too much. The reason is that Modern man consumes a large amount of carbohydrate-rich foods daily. That is why there is an abundance of glucose in the body. But this excessive glucose eventually leaves the person sick.
An important revelation
It was mentioned earlier that excess of glucose also causes cancer. In this disease, the cells of an organ or part of the human body begin to multiply in an unnatural manner. The excess cells eventually not only disable the organ or part, but also spread to the neighboring organs and parts. Despite the tremendous progress of medical science, man has not yet been able to develop a drug that can stop this life-threatening unnatural proliferation of cells.
However, in the recent month of April, scientists discovered the important thing that how glucose in the human body causes cancer. The research was led by two researchers at the National University of Singapore’s Cancer Science Institute, Professor Ashok Vikanth Raman and Li Ren Kong.
What is methylglyoxal?
Research has revealed that when our cells break down glucose or fructose to make the required energy, a chemical called methylglyoxal is produced. This substance temporarily disables BRCA2, an important gene in our cells. When a cell’s DNA is damaged, this gene repairs it. It also produces proteins that prevent cells from proliferating abnormally.
BRCA2 is a very important gene in human cells because it protects us from cancer. When we consume moderate amounts of glucose, its supplement, methylgluoxal, temporarily inactivates this gene. But when the cells make energy from glucose, the gene starts to activate again and perform its responsibilities. This is a natural process.
The disorder occurs when the amount of glucose in the human body remains high at all times. Methylglyoxal is then produced in such high amounts that the BRCA2 genes in our cells remain inactive for a long time and cannot do their job. In this situation, the risk increases that some organ or part of a person will become a target of cancer. Thus, the excess of glucose in the body makes a person suffer from a dangerous and even fatal disease.
Eat complex carbohydrates
After this revelation, it is important that every human being keeps the sugar level in their body moderate. In this way he can stay healthy and energetic. It should be noted that there are two types of carbohydrates. The first is the “simple” type.
Carbohydrates of this type are digested very quickly and release glucose quickly. Thus, the amount of glucose in the blood increases rapidly. The second type are “complex” carbohydrates. They slowly release glucose into the blood. A person should eat mostly complex carbohydrates to keep blood glucose levels moderate.
“If you want to live a happy and fulfilling life, cut out processed sugar from your lifestyle,” says Professor Ashok Vikanth Raman. In this way, not only you will be protected from cancer, but you will also be able to get rid of other dangerous diseases. Take glucose, but in moderation! This is the key to living the best life.”
