Binge eating disorders can persist for yearsBinge eating disorders can persist for years

Boston: Previous studies have shown that short-term binge eating disorders do not last long, but a more detailed study has shown that this is not true.

The lead author of the recent US study and assistant psychiatrist at McLean Hospital in Boston, Kristen Javar, said that binge eating disorders improve over time, but for many people, they persist for years.

“As a clinician, oftentimes the clients I work with report years of illness, which contradicts studies that show the disease is not long-lived,” she said.

“Understanding how long binge eating disorder lasts in the short term is critical so we can provide better care,” he added.

This disease, called binge eating disorder, usually occurs in people in their 20s, in which people complain of overeating.
