Karachi: Senior Provincial Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has said that K Electric is an unbridled horse that is violating the Constitution.
In his statement, he said that take out the balance sheet and see how much profit the power supply companies are making. K Electric has been an unrelenting horse since day one. Under the agreement, K-Electric is to spend a percentage of earnings on network expansion and maintenance.
Sharjeel Memon said that whether it is raining or hot, the K-Electric feeders trip. The Sindh Assembly recently passed a resolution asking the electricity supply companies to correct their Qibla. Electricity supply companies cannot impose collective punishment, it is a violation of the constitution and law. Electricity supply companies only send bills based on estimates rather than meter readings.
The provincial minister said that when the people go with the bill, they say that they cannot reduce the bill, they can make installments. In rural areas of Sindh, 10 out of 100 houses are taken off the PMT when they are defaulters. K Electric, HESCO, SEPCO are totally violating the constitution. The law will come into action if the constitution is violated.
He said that after the bill was passed in the assembly, K Electric wrote a letter that we have dues to the government. It cannot be that the power supply companies are punishing the poor people for their greed and incompetence. People are very worried due to heat wave. Electricity is also not being provided to the examination centers.
