Organizing the first ‘Islamabad Night Run’ in the federal capital

Islamabad: The first night run titled ‘Islamabad Night Run’ was organized in the federal capital Islamabad, in which a record number of runners participated.

The event was organized by Running Community in collaboration with Capital Development Authority and ICT. The event not only held races but also included delicious food and mesmerizing rides for families.

The route of the race was Dastur Highway which passes through several landmark places of the federal capital including Parliament, Prime Minister’s Secretariat, D Chowk, President’s House, Supreme Court and Foreign Office.

Families also participated in this event in large numbers. Food stalls were set up on the occasion where food and drink stalls were set up for the runners and their families. A musical program was also organized after the ceremony.

In the five km category race, Muhammad Riaz won the first position with 16 minutes and 11 seconds, while Shahbaz came second and Umar Zaman came third.

In the women’s category, the first position was won by Rabila Farooq with a time of 23 minutes 25 seconds, while Inga Murtazit and Khadija stood second and third respectively. A record number of women participated in the five kilometer category race.

In the 10 km category, Akhtar Haji was declared the fastest male runner with 31 minutes and 10 seconds. Waqar Ahmed was second and Mubariz Bukhari was third.

Among the women, Emily finished first with a time of 54 minutes, while Kathryn Nath finished second and Ayesha Mastoor finished third.
A radio frequency identification system (RFID) modeled on international races was also used to make the race a global standard.

On this occasion, the runners and their families appreciated the organization of Islamabad Night Run and congratulated the organizers for adding another event to the runners’ calendar in Islamabad.
