Peshawar: During the protest against load shedding, PTIMPA broke into the grid station and switched on the feeders.
According to the spokesperson of Pesco, Member of Provincial Assembly Fazl Elahi surrounded the Pesco Rehman Baba grid station with the protesters and entered the grid station with the protesters and forcibly operated the feeders. The protesters forcibly operated 9 feeders which are considered as high loss feeders.
According to the Peshawar Electric Supply Corporation (PESCO) spokesperson, the feeders switched on include Hazarkhwani, Yakatut, Akhunabad, New Chamkani, Soorizai Bala, Shaluzhan and Qalandarabad. Due to electricity theft and non-payment of dues on the above feeders, the losses are more than 80% and operations are underway to reduce the losses on the above feeders.
Later, negotiations between Member of Provincial Assembly Fazal Elahi and Pesco officials were successful, as a result of which electricity supply has been started from Rehman Baba grid station to Hazar Khawani and other areas. It was decided in the negotiations that load shedding of electricity will not be done for more than 10 hours.
During the negotiations, Member of the Provincial Assembly Fazal Elahi has assured support to end the Kanda system, after which Fazal Elahi announced the end of the protest and the protestors went back.
Meanwhile, Axin Alam Zeb said that we are reducing loadshedding in the area. Area elders will ensure payment of arrears. Speaking on this occasion, Member of Assembly Fazal Elahi said that WAPDA is also our department, along with WAPDA there is also shortage of staff. We will eliminate kanda culture and electricity theft from the area. WAPDA should ensure issuance of bills on monthly basis.
