Costs have gone up, won’t sell bread for less than Rs 15, oven owners
Lahore: There was a standoff between the tandoor owners and the government over reducing the prices of bread and naan.
Tandoor owners have refused to sell bread for less than 15 rupees, saying that costs have increased and they will not sell bread for less than 15 paise.
The Punjab government has set the price of bread at Rs 14 and Rs 20 for naan in Lahore, but in tandoors, roti is being sold at Rs 15, naan at Rs 25 and kalcha at Rs 30.
All over the city, there is a series of complaints about the price of non-roti among the tandoor owners and the citizens.
Deputy Commissioner Lahore Rafia Haider has said that bread and bread will be sold at the rates set by the Punjab government. Officers are monitoring.
